Eligibility Criteria — Civil Services Exam 2023

Educational qualifications and Age Limits for Indian Forest Services Recruitment 2023.

Nationality

For the Indian Administrative Service, the Indian Foreign Service, and the Indian Police Service, a candidate must be a citizen of India.

>For other services, a candidate must be either:—

  • (a) a citizen of India, or
  • (b) a subject of Nepal, or
  • (c) a subject of Bhutan, or

Educational Qualifications

  • A candidate must hold a Graduate degree from any of the Universities incorporated by an Act of the central or State Legislature in India

Age Limit (As of 1st August 2023)

The candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1990 and not later than 1st August 2001

  • Minimum Age – 21 Years
  • Maximum Age – 32 Years

Age Relaxation SC / ST / Female for 5 Years

Selection Process

The Competitive Examination for recruitment to the posts of Indian Civil Services Exam Services (IAS) will be conducted in the following successive stages :

  • Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination (Objective Type)
  • Indian Forest Service (Main) Examination (Written Exam)
  • Personality Test or Interview
  • Physical Standard Test

Interview or Personality Test — Civil Services Exam 2023

The candidate will be interviewed by a Board that will have before them a record of the candidate’s career. The candidate will be asked questions on matters of general interest. The object of the Interview/Personality Test is to assess the personal suitability of the candidate for a career in public service by a Board of competent and unbiased observers. The Interview/Personality Test is intended to judge the mental calibre of a candidate.

In broad terms, this is really an assessment of not only intellectual qualities but also social traits and interest in current affairs. Some of the qualities to be judged are mental alertness, critical powers of assimilation, clear and logical exposition, the balance of judgement, variety and depth of interest, the ability for social cohesion and leadership, and intellectual and moral integrity.

Number of Attempts

Every candidate appearing at the Examination, who is otherwise eligible, shall be permitted six attempts at the examination. An attempt at a Preliminary Examination shall be deemed to be an attempt at the Examination. Provided that this restriction on the number of attempts will not apply in the case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates who are otherwise eligible.
